frustrated..

I need to start off by saying that I have been really trying to maintain my healthy eating, but stress is causing me to go back to my old habits… I had a mocha latte from Dunkin Donuts and had 2 donuts (which I haven’t had in 3 weeks).. I had a good dinner and then went out for a 6 mile bike ride with my son.. I feel good about that but I need to do better with my diet. A gal at work gave me Eating for Your Blood type, and I am going to try to use that as a partial guide to help me.. Will it work? Dunno…

On the brighter side, I did lose almost 3 lbs..

I am feeling great today..

I walked in to work this morning in a great mood. Maybe too good for me lately.. with my husband out of work for 3 1/2 months. I did a lot of exercising yesterday and I actually hurt all over, but it was ok. Anyway…. I worked out for 45 minutes then went to physical therapy afterwards and worked out again for 30 more minutes. My husband, my son and I went out for dinner. I am actually choosing better things for me to eat and drinking water… Lots of water! For the first time in a long time, I finished my meal. it was a “lunch” size salad from Famous Dave’s. I am hoping that this will accomplish my goals.. Yeah me!

I worked out today..

I biked 3.5 miles today.. I decided to “earn” my coffee this morning by biking to Dunkin Donuts but their latte machine was broken when I got there! Grrr! I decided to have an iced coffee instead. But noooo donuts! I feel really good and excited for finally getting off my bum! Happy Sunday…

The new challenge..

I am starting this again.. I am in the process of having a chest reduction and need to follow insurance guidelines before we can proceed. I have to try to lose weight, and go to physical therapy for back pain. I am in catch 22~I want to exercise but it hurts to exercise because of my top heaviness. And…. the insurance states that I need to try to lose weight before I can get authorization. I am hoping to be able to have this done before Christmas.

So, I have met with a dietitian (last week) and she is working with me to set a game plan. I have to see her again in 4 weeks for a weight check. I decided to use Buddy Slim to get me motivated again.

I am going to go to work earlier next week and start working out before work. I am glad that there is a work out room and shower facilities so I can just do my thing and then start work.

Back in the game…

It’s been a long tince I have posted on my blog.. I fell in July and broke my foot and severly sprained my ankle, so I was off my feet for some time. I also had some other health issues.

But… I am back in the game.. My work has opened corporate gym and I have been faithfully working out during the past two weeks. I am actually running again.. Yippee!

I am so pruod of myself, but I am exhausted as well. Last week, I worked out, cam home, ate, and then fell asleep… Any tips out there to help me not be so tired?

Health struggles…

Over the past two weeks, I have been going through some health struggles. I have been dealing with some kidney issues, which is hindering my exercising regiment. I know that I need to exercise and I did on Tuesday, but I haven’t for a week and a half - I want to feel better and I am afraid if I don’t go back soon, I will slide into the old person I was.

I am purely exhausted by the time I get home from work and I just am too tired to work out. I know it will get better soon, but can I wait that long? I had hoped to train for my mini marathon, but unfortunately that is not happening right now, maybe another day.. Boy I am starting to sound like Eeyoure! Don’t get me wrong I am not having a pity party, God has blessed me too much to do that.

Thanks for all the support! I have to get some tests next week to make sure everything is ok.. Please keep me in your prayers if you can!

On the brighter side - my little sister is expecting twins this Christmas! She has a 8 month old, so she will be busy!!

My next challenge…

I am training for a mini - triathlon : 250 yards of swimming, 6.1 biking and 2.1 miles of running. August 10th is the big day…

Why am I doing this? I think having a short term goal will help motivate me to get my bum in gear. I actually went swimming yesterday, and boy do I feel old! I woke up today and went biking for 25 minutes BEFORE work. I am going to start working out 5-6 days a week, not just 2-3.

I began to read this book about losing weight for your specific body type. I was starting to get frustrated because I have been working out for 3 weeks and have only lost two pounds. This book stated that with my body shape, not to use the scale as a tool for weight , use instead the looseness of your clothes. I was also doing some of the exercises that increases mass, not burn fat. So I am changing a few things in my exercise routine, so we will see how it goes!!

I’m gonna let you go now.. need to spend some time with my kids and watch my Cubbies play!

Today was a better day..

I had a really bad day yesterday with food. I was so hungry around lunch time and thought I was craving something besides a salad - my normal lunch. I bought a Big and Tasty, or rather a big and nasty. Even though I enjoyed the fries, I really felt kinda sick after I ate it. I stopped at the store before my son’s baseball game and bought pringles.. What was I thinkin? It only took a few for me to realize that pringles were not going to help me reach my goals and I had no more.

Today we had pizza in our office for lunch, and I only had 2 peices. I had a bagel with light cream cheese for breakfast. My husband actually made salad for dinner- yum!! So I had a bad  day - but I need to move past it it..

I work for a physical therapy company and one of the many perks is having access to the clinic’s machines for personal use free of charge. So I have been going twice a week for the past three weeks. Today, I started with the bike and rode 1.5 miles and that was a good warm up prior to my treadmill workout. However, as the patients do come first, I could not  used the treadmill as they were both in use… So stepped on the elliptical machine.. I was on it for 15 minutes - oh my goodness! I have never had such an intense workout! I was a sweaty mess - especially after I left the gym and it was 90 degrees outside. When I got home, my husband told me how proud he was of my new commitment to be healthy - I love my man!!! :)

Workout #10

I can’t believe I made it through 10 consistent workouts. And if that wasn’t enough, I came home, took a shower and rode my bike (about a mile) to a local softball game.  I was also surprised that I was able to run almost ten minutes on a treadmill today without stopping. I was only going to walk today, but I couldn’t help myself.. What is the crazy world coming to?

I tried the elliptical machine today.. Any one who uses one regularly gets my praise.. Man, that thing is hard.. As I only made it about 6 1/2 minutes.. Whew!

I was very good in my eating as well, I am losing my cravings for all the garbage that I used to eat, although I did drink a Dr. Pepper this evening. I know, I know, empty calories..

I am truly excited about this new lifestyle change and so is my husband. We just booked a cruise on October and I can’t wait to take pictures to show off the new, improved me!

Thanks for all the encouragement - you guys are the best. I don’t think I could have done this change without you!  :)

I finished my first 5K race!

Oh my goodness..

I have to say I finished my 5K race in 42 minutes and 26 seconds. Ok, so I finished 501 out of 537 people but I finished! My younger son raced with me but finished better with 33 minutes and 57 seconds. My son and I are going to start training together to do more! Although it was hard it was fun!!
